The Agramonte Pharmacy, formerly the Joaquín Cases Pharmacy, is a modernist store protected as a Cultural Asset of local interest and cataloged as an emblematic trade of great interest.

 

The first historical references to the Pharmacy date back to 1600, where there is talk of a space run by a long line of apothecaries. The Saurinas were the first to run it until 1747. Later, the Pharmacy will be occupied by the Cases family, who will be the owners of it from 1864 to 2014.

 

In 2019 Zoila Agramonte Buchó, became the new head of the Pharmacy. Zoila, decides to put in value the immense historical and artistic heritage that the pharmacy has, and at the same time endow it with dynamism and modernity. The current decoration of the premises dates from a modernist reform in 1880, a time when the Cases family created a masterful formula that is popularized throughout Spain and even America and is known as "Solution Cases". This was famous for its high ability to alleviate multiple diseases and pain.

 

While on the outside of the facade there is a veneered wooden cabinet that occupies its entire surface, inside, the modernist finishes typical of the time stand out. There are crystals with acid-etched floral motifs, floor tiles with hydraulic mosaic and furniture with woodwork finishes that present curved lines

and floral motifs.

 

Likewise, these modernist motifs inside the Pharmacy coexist with remains of medieval architecture, such as the load-bearing stone arch inside. This arch is dated in the twelfth century, which were built to make possible flexible spaces to locate workshops, shops, etc.
